Waterton Lakes National Park Winter Activities & Amenities
Waterton is a bustling little park in the summer, but this small park has a lot to offer in the winter as well.
Parks Canada maintains groomed runs for cross country
skiing and snow shoeing and the Waterton Lakes Resorts offers daily rentals of both. There are 2 designated cross country ski trails located along the upper Akamina Parkway, ranging from easy to moderate. There are many locations to snowshoe in Waterton, with Bertha Falls and Crandell Lake being the two most popular
destinations.
For the adrenaline seekers, there are some awesome ice-climbing opportunities as well. Skiing/snowboarding, is is a mere hour away at Castle Mountain.
For a gentler experience, tourists can stroll through town to admire the serenity of Waterton, watch wildlife, or curl up with a good book and a glass of wine at Vimy's Lounge & Grill.
Vimy’s Lounge & Grill, situated in the Waterton Lakes Resort, is the only restaurant open during the off-season in Waterton. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, it is the local watering hole for the permanent park
residents. Many nights are spent watching hockey on the big screen TVs and enjoying a drink by the fireplace
Our heated indoor Swimming Pool, Hot Tub, Games Room, and Fitness Centre located at the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort is open year round - please call 1.888.985.6343 for opening hours.
Please note that Waterton is a remote location and cell phone reception is only available through Telus and Bell. Internet is only available through satellite which is intermittent. For guaranteed internet, please bring an internet stick from Bell or Telus.
